This month marks two years since COVID-19 was officially declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. As case trends improve and warmer weather facilitates more outdoor activities, we are moving into a new phase that hopefully is closer to our “old normal.” Your YLC leadership team appreciates that you have remained engaged and patient with us as we adapted to continue our programming in this challenging time. We are looking forward to applying what we’ve learned these past two years to continue to provide innovative and effective programs.
To continue our mission, we need you! Nominate yourself or a colleague for our YLC awards and to serve on the YLC Board of Governors. If you have any questions about the Board, feel free to contact me or the Board member from your area. We are also starting to plan for next year’s program and committee chairs, so now is a good time to note your interest using our volunteer form.
Finally, we find ourselves yet again in a time of economic and geopolitical uncertainty. The people fighting to defend their homes and their democratic system in Ukraine have been an example for all of us, and a reminder of how precious many things there are that we take for granted.
I encourage you to find a way to make a difference in your own community or to help those in need abroad. For the sake of our own mental health, let us remember that not every problem is ours alone to solve. Do what is yours to do, help as you can, and have patience and forgiveness for yourself for the rest. And when you’re ready for your next service project, the YLC and your local bar associations are a great place to start.
